I ran the TOU this morning even though my legs still felt pretty iffy from Saturday.  I had decided to not push it if I felt it would destroy any chances I have of running a decent marathon at Twin in two weeks.  Instead of finishing at any cost, my plan was to hold marathon pace for as long as I could and call it a day.  I could tell by mile three that I had to make a decision and it was hard.  It took me until mile 11 to decide to drop out, 5:47 average pace.  My legs hurt like crazy, but I wasn't winded at all, so hopefully I can get some rest and gear up again.  It was really neat to cheer everybody on, I havn't done that for a while.  I need to get out and do some volunteering.

Well, you are still basically a good person. :)

Hope you are feeling better today.

Basically? I'd say overall...

Feeling pretty good actually. Got in a good trail run with the dog and so happy I didn't try and finish that yesterday. I really think it could have been the end of my season running. I think that I had some burnout right about the time of that national guard 5k, then I started recovering with some slow miles and then hit it hard again with that Alta race before I was all the way there. It just knocked me back to where I was.

Smart call for sure Steve.. Better to do that than force the issue and wind up injured or sick. Now if you were in second or third place at mile 23 then that would have been a different story:)

good judgement call, save it for the goal race. I drank you m-dew by the way when you didn't show up. But for the record I was there waiting for you.
